Andy
Robinson's Exotic America Named Top Ten Debut Album of 2004
Andy
Robinson's Exotic America was featured in the December 21 issue of the
San Diego Union Tribune as one of the top ten debut albums of
2004! Pop music critic George Varga included Andy's first solo
album with major label releases by groups such as English art-rockers
The Futureheads, and notable "indie" releases such as albums by
jazz/blues vocalist Pyeng Threadgill, and Amp Fiddler (George Clinton,
Prince, Ramsey Lewis). Varga
characterizes the music on Exotic America as "a seamless blend of
Western and Eastern folk stylings rich in warmth and charm, but happily
bereft of affectation".
"After
the Fires" Included on a Benefit CD for Tom Boyer
"After the Fires" (from Exotic America) was
included on A
New Day, a benefit CD for Tom Boyer, a San Diego fingerstyle guitarist
recently diagnosed with throat cancer. All
proceeds
from the CD sales will be donated to the oncology department of San
Diego Children's
Hospital. Other artists who contributed to this project include
Doyle
Dykes, Albert Lee, Pat Kirtley and D.R. Auten. For
details on ordering the CD, go to: http://www.cairneyhill.com.

us will appreciate the multiplicity of colors, timbres, and oddities in
the mix – a solid 'A' effort". Check the REVIEWS
page for more excerpts, or get the whole enchilada at Kronosonic!
Exotic
America Gets Reviewed
in Folknik
Read the SECOND
published review, this one by Kathryn
LaMar in "Folknik",
a newsletter of the San Francisco Folk Music
Club (see the November/December 2004 issue - coming out shortly).
Excerpts available on the REVIEWS
page. Here is a snippet: "This is an incredibly fun,
upbeat, infectiously optimistic-feeling
CD….To me, each piece is a tone poem, evoking images. My personal
favorite, 'Children’s Games', evoked images of elephants proceeding
majestically along." Go, Kathryn!
